Kixx is set to supply immersion cooling fluids to LG U+, a South Korean mobile network operator, to accelerate the expansion of its data center immersion cooling business.

On June 26, Kixx announced that it has begun supplying immersion cooling fluid to the demonstration room at LG U+’s hyperscale data center, Pyeongchon 2 Center, launching a collaboration to test the stability and efficiency of operating AI servers in an immersion cooling environment.

Immersion cooling is a technology that cools heat-generating electronic devices like servers, batteries, and more by submerging them directly in a non-conductive fluid. Compared to traditional air-cooling systems, it offers reduced energy consumption and is well-suited for cooling high-heat AI servers, making it a promising next-generation cooling solution.

The Kixx Immersion Fluid S 30, supplied by Kixx to LG U+’s data center, is designed to meet the demanding stability requirements of high-heat data centers while minimizing its impact on human health and the environment. It is made primarily from polyalphaolefin (PAO), a key material used in cooling fluids for fighter jet electronics, lubricants in pharmaceutical and food manufacturing plants, and cosmetics ingredients. The immersion cooling fluid also features a high flash point of 250 degrees Celsius.

“Through this supply and collaboration, we have been able to further enhance the efficiency and sustainability of data centers by utilizing immersion cooling solutions,” a Kixx representative stated. “We will continue our efforts to develop immersion cooling technologies and strive to expand the market to improve energy efficiency in the data center industry.”

Since launching Korea’s first immersion cooling fluid, Kixx Immersion Fluid S, in 2023, Kixx has partnered not only with LG U+ but also with companies across the domestic and global data center industry ecosystem to demonstrate its immersion cooling products and drive market expansion.

Kixx has conducted numerous demonstration tests with domestic companies such as DataBean, a data center immersion cooling solutions provider; SDT, a digital transformation and quantum technology company; and Samhwa ACE, an HVAC solutions company for data centers — verifying compatibility and stability with immersion cooling systems and collaborating to expand the market.

In 2024, Kixx supplied immersion cooling fluid to the Samsung SDS data centers, and this month, in collaboration with Supermicro, a global server manufacturer headquartered in the U.S., the company has established an immersion cooling system at its R&D Center in Daejeon and is conducting in-house evaluations of thermal management performance and stability for AI servers.

Kixx also recently expanded its product lineup by differentiating its immersion cooling fluids into four products, making them applicable not only to data centers but also to electric vehicle (EV) batteries and energy storage systems (ESS). Kixx is committed to continuing to supply and demonstrate these products in collaboration with companies across various industrial sectors.
