The Kixx GX7 lineup was introduced as part of the recent Kixx brand renewal and reflects the brand’s updated product system. As part of this overhaul, Kixx simplified its naming system for automotive lubricants and streamlined its grade levels into three tiers: 9, 7, and 5. The name “GX7” combines “GX,” the new standard label for passenger car lubricants, with “7,” representing one of the new tiers.  

Kixx GX7 is a fully synthetic premium gasoline engine oil designed to provide enhanced engine protection, improved fuel efficiency, and extended oil drainage intervals. It is specially formulated to meet the demanding performance requirements of modern engine technologies.  

 

How Is the New API SQ Standard Different From the Previous Engine Oil Standard?  

API SQ is the latest gasoline engine oil standard introduced in 2025 by the American Petroleum Institute (API). Compared to the previous API SP specifications, it features enhanced standards for engine protection and fuel efficiency. 

Optimized for the latest high-performance and high-efficiency engines, the new API SQ standard introduces stricter testing requirements in key performance areas to reliably support more advanced engine technologies: 

• Stricter fuel efficiency performance requirements 

• Strengthened protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) 

• Higher resistance to timing chain wear 

• Reinforced high-temperature oxidation stability requirements 

• New protection standards for gasoline particulate filters (GPF) 

In addition, API SQ remains backwards compatible with existing standards such as API SP, API SN, and API SL, making it widely applicable not only to the latest vehicles but also older models.
